Stacey and Eric’s wedding bands

September 1, 2014

StaceyEricRings

Custom-made wedding bands for Eric and Stacey.

Eric requested a lava rock inspired band so I looked to lava stones and recreated the texture. Stacey loved the idea of a yin and yang set of stacking bands so her rings nestle together without being soldered together. It was a pleasure to work with two equally creative minds to make their wedding bands which will last them a lifetime.

Tanner Airlines Junior Flyer

July 1, 2013

Eric Tan‘s solo FLY show at Gallery1988 features 15 witty limited edition silkscreened travel posters. Cohesive to the theme, Eric transformed the gallery into the ‘Tanner Airlines Reservation Center’, complete with Tanner Airlines model airplane (by Eric) and junior flyer wings. He approached me a couple months ago with his wings design to see if I could turn it into pins. Lucky for me, he already had the design, size, pin back style, and metal preference in mind (an ideal client!). I fabricated the prototype and, voila, we then reproduced a collection of Tanner Airlines Junior Flyer wings!!! He announced that the first 30 people to purchase prints at the opening would receive their wings. True to their name, Eric’s prints and pins went flying out the door! It was such a fun project to work on and Eric is truly an amazing artist.

Wings are bronze with a magnetic pinback.

Eric Tan at Gallery 1988

Last night was the opening reception for Eric Tan‘s solo show FLY at Gallery1988 on Melrose in Los Angeles. FLY showcases limited edition, silk screen prints based on the travels of Eric Tan, complete with model airplane and wings for Tanner Airlines. He is an incredibly impeccable artist who has the knack for combining style and sophistication with humor and wit. This is not an easy feat, as many creatives know, but Eric does it with seemingly effortless ease.

Below are some of my favorites. The show is up until July 20th so if you’re local to LA then go check it out! Nothing beats seeing the prints in person, plus you can purchase one there. (There was a line of people waiting to get in!)

Mind’s Eye Design Studio and The A21 Campaign

June 14, 2013
Over this past weekend, I helped Mind’s Eye Design to install a large floor-to-ceiling vinyl design for The A21 Campaign. It was exciting to see the project come alive from start to finish. I love the contrast of dark grey and white!

the grandkid bracelet

June 7, 2013

a few years ago, my mom requested a bracelet with her grandkids names on it. i decided a bracelet with chain would work well since…who knows how many grandkids there will be! it started off with kason and marcus. i recently just added maya.
i draw the script and then hand pierce (saw) each name in sterling silver sheet metal to create their names.

Location: Connecting People, Connecting Stories

April 15, 2013

“Location: Connecting People, Connecting Stories” is a Kickstarter project that one of my close friends, Jennifer Carland has launched. I met Jenn in graduate school back east and instantly bonded over our passion for reading books, making excursions to Boston, and searching out Indian and Vietnamese food. Our paths crossed in the small town of New Bedford, MA and we have continued our friendship from coast to coast.
Jenn is an amazing artist, sculptor, and metalsmith who has the ability to combine personal and social issues within her work. She has personally been through so much and I am constantly amazed by her strength. This project will help to commemorate the life of her late brother Justin. Please support her project to create abstracted maps inspired by the travels of Justin and, in return, you can receive a beautifully abstracted map that reminds you of your own travels, experiences, and memories.
